Welcome to Bassetlaw! A district driven by ambition, Bassetlaw has a proud heritage and a bright, promising future set out in the council’s vision 2040 to become the greenest, most sustainable district, building on its legacy of energy production, manufacturing and logistics to power the net zero economy.

Bassetlaw has been chosen as the location for the UK’s first fusion energy prototype power plant and a significant part of the Governments East Midlands Investment Zone. The district is rapidly gaining popularity among businesses looking to establish themselves here due to its central location and impressive track record for attracting and delivering major investment projects.

Key projects we’re proud of:

• Bassetlaw is home to STEP, a UK-led, world-leading programme which will see a prototype fusion energy powerplant built by 2040. Fusion promises to be a safe, low carbon and sustainable part of the world’s energy supply, with potential to help sustain net zero in the future.
• At the heart of the East Midland Investment Zone, Bassetlaw is driving the future of advanced manufacturing and green technologies. Explore Park near Worksop is set to ignite innovation, foster hundreds of jobs and attract substantial cross sectorial private investment to the region.
• Proud to be the chosen location for Panattoni Park Central A1M, which at 770,000sq ft is the the largest single speculative build unit hitting the UK market this year. An additional adjacent plot is also offered as a build-to-suit opportunity of up to 500,000 sq ft.
• We believe that our town centres are the beating heart of our communities and that’s why we’re investing £20m into our shopping centre in Worksop, £1.2m into an exciting new street food market in Retford and working at pace to use our new powers under the High Street Rental Auction.
