Global software firm sees profits more than double

Headquartered in Nottingham, global software company Ideagen added almost £10m in revenue and saw profits more than double.

Ideagen signed new deals with the likes of Aston Martin, Citibank, Verizon, Lockheed Martin and Bayer Pharmaceuticals. They also acquired US-based Medforce, adding 300 healthcare customers, IP, recurring revenues and a platform for further growth in North America.

Deals were also extended with SABIC, Danone, Standard Life, HNZ Global and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Executive chairman David Hornsby said: "The group's focus this year was on the continuation of our underlying organic growth and strategic transition to a recurring revenue model whilst integrating the four acquisitions made in the previous year."

"We have achieved all of our objectives and have significantly increased the group's global footprint and delivered another set of excellent results. In April the group announced its first US-based acquisition which will further strengthen our North American opportunity."

Innovation hub looking to double its size in the city

Accelerate Places, which was launched in 2016, is drawing plans to double it’s size in the city.

The tech and innovation hub is based in the four storey building on Wollaton Street, the building is occupied by a number of tech businesses such as Oakbrook, Liberis and Bizfitech. There are also scale-ups, new ventures and other businesses run by serial entrepreneurs developing new technology solutions.

Jason Incles, managing director at Accelerate Places, said: "We acquired this building in 2016, invested heavily in transforming it into a destination tailored to the needs of tech and scale-up businesses, and it’s now full of enterprises which range in size from two people to more than 100.

"It’s been great to welcome these businesses and support their growth because they provide all the evidence you need to show that Accelerate Places is a concept that works.

"But their success has left us with a challenge because there is now a pipeline of businesses who would like to join them. On top of that, Blenheim Chalcot’s businesses continue to grow here."

Incles and his team have spent the last few months scouting for a second location in Nottingham, with the search continuing.
