As the Tour de France approaches its conclusion in Paris, Nottingham cyclists have been given a welcome boost by the introduction of a cycle path that links two of the city’s busiest routes.  

The path – which bisects the 40-acre site former Boots Island site - connects City Link with London Road, offering a more direct route for cyclists travelling to and from the east of the city.

The route will act as a temporary link across the site, with plans for a more permanent path included in the proposals for the site’s redevelopment, which were been submitted to Nottingham City Council this month. 

Christopher Ware of Conygar Investment Company plc, the site’s owner, said that the path will give people a safer, more direct route between the city’s eastern and western cycle corridors.

He said: “We have worked closely with Nottingham City Council on the construction of this path, which adds a vital link between two of the city’s main cycle routes.

“With the recently submitted planning application, we are hoping that there are big things to come for this area of the city, and we’re committed to making cycling connectivity a key part of those plans.”
