Invest in Nottingham visit London Tech Week

September saw the Invest in Nottingham team head to London Tech Week and our first face to face event since the beginning of the pandemic. We were supporting the Elevating Founders event which is a dedicated programme for Start-up and Scale-ups and featured discussions around fundraising, talent, lessons for founders as well as the Elevating Founders pitch final. Whilst London Tech Week focuses on the capital, it also shines the spotlight on the UK tech sector and the wider opportunities for companies looking to expand and grow their business here. 

It was a great opportunity for the team to showcase the fast-growing tech scene in Nottingham and also to speak to companies who are looking to find the right ecosystem to grow their business. And as we normally do at these events, we met a fair share of people who had studied in Nottingham and had moved away and who were surprised to see the breadth and depth of the tech sector in the city – from global giants such as Experian through to fast growing businesses such as Lockwood Publishing. Something that the rest of the team were trying to solve on the same day at University of Nottingham's Freshers Week – showing the graduates of tomorrow the amazing career opportunities available to them in Nottingham once they leave – rather than being drawn by the big lights of the capital!
